Let Me Dream
Let me dream outside of gravity
Somewhere that failure is a foreign word
Outside of a world where sidewalk chalk kingdoms
disintegrate and roll away
Let me hide in my imagination-where paper mache
does not wilt in the rain
Let me dream in a universe where things fall up instead of down
Where chaos is only ever for flair
Where I can make the promise that things will be okay and
I will know for sure that it is true
Let me dream in a world where there is always enough
Where danger never comes close enough to kill
Where pain is a stranger that only comes to open the window wide
For us enough to see what we have been looking for
Let me dream like a child who does not yet know that he is poor
Let me dream like a dying man who wakes up each morning
Expecting good news
In peaceful protest of hopelessness
Let me dream on a hilltop where the sky is always yellow
Every possibility sounds more like a promise
Where everything I hope for is written in stone
A history book for the future
NIGHTBIRDE
